March 2015: Grays Ferry & Private TF

About a month ago I decided I would take a little skate trip down to DC and Philly. Turns out, the rain had also planned a weekend in DC this weekend ... So skateboarding was put on hold until next time (shredded some ramen instead).

Since DC was a bust, I made it a point to check out at least two new parks in Philly.

First stop: Grays Ferry.  I believe this is another Paines Park creation in PA. These guys make the best parks. My personal favorite is Pops park. Check it out sometime.

Grays Ferry was pretty fun. It was a very small park with mostly tranny. It has a few camel humps and quarter pipes. Check out the terrible photo.

I took this baby as we were walking out.

Next stop, the Dave's friends TF.... Calling it a TF reminds me of Dyrdek & Caine Gayle's transworld part. Google it.

This park was so rad. It was just a bunch of boxes, rails and ramps in an old warehouse. Honestly, it felt like I was back at BYP (my old backyard makeshift skate park made up of old railroad tracks, cylinder blocks, orange barriers, flat bars...). I had a blast. Video coming soon.

Here's the video:

5/52- I need to step it up.

Always blowing it,

alex road skatepark

finally getting around to posting something on hurr. I went to a new park yesterday and was just so excited to check it out because it has the same name as me! (i didn't know that until i got there..) this is that oceanside park that opened about a year ago (?) that everyone raved on and on about for months. I'm pretty sure some of you have been here before but who cares right?

I was pretty hyped to check this place out and had a good time while i was there.

this is basically what you see when you walk in the park (it may be the longest park i've ever been to aside from vans hb...) a couple of bowls and a snake(ish) run thing that leads back to the street(ish) section. cruising the snake run thing up to the street section may have been the funnest thing there.

view from the opposite end. the street section. filled with many obstacles to ensure that a good time will be had by all. They even included a rainbow dragon roller coaster bump thing to launch ramp.

from about the middle of the park to the back end

this is the typical "krew" you might see here (don't worry these are just screen shots of the above photos. i didn't take any actual effort to shame any of these wonderful people)

Here you can see how great the box/step up is for taking a break when you've just about had it with the hot hot sun.

amanda spotted this gem in the parking lot.

This park was super fun and wasn't crowded at all when i was there. (there were a lot of people but they were just stitting around mostly) There was a group of more "core" skaters. kids that actually knew what was up but they spent the whole time playing skate in front of the public restrooms. so maybe they didn't know what was up. Anyway, i'll go again if anyone wants to join!!

A little late

HEY YALL!

I KNOW THAT IM PRETTY LATE ON POSTING THIS PARK. BUT OH WELL.

I KNOW WHAT YOURE THINKING, "HES TYPING IN ALL CAPS, HE MUST BE EXCITED"...... WELL YOURE RIGHT I AM EXCITED. BUT MOSTLY BECAUSE I HAVE A BOWL OF MAC N CHEESE IN FRONT OF ME AND ITS WONDERFUL.

ONTO THE PARK, I DONT KNOW EXACTLY WHAT MADE US ( ME, NEAL, AND JORDAN) GO TO THis park but i am glad we did ( ate all mac n cheese.) The park was a lot of fun, everything was very very waxed. Just the way i like it, i mean its no Cherry Park but Hey, what is?!? Am I right or what?!

This park wasn't in the best part of South Central LA but i felt pretty safe the whole time. there were your typical kids smoking weed and watching your every move and randoms telling you that you're better than the self proclaimed " Switch God" but i still felt pretty good.

None of us really remember to take a good photo of the park though.... we did on the other hand make a video!

Oh, i went to the Berrics. It was tight.

Over and Out!

Kelly's Donuts and Burgers

New doughnies spot! Probably the closest to the HB park, so that's why I ended up there basically. And yes, you read the title right, this place is called "Kelly's Donuts and Burgers". If you want some doughnies, come here, and if while you're here, you decide you want a burger, well shit man, get a burger! Nice, solid selection of doughnies. Jordan approved of the blueberry, which seemed extra soft on the inside.

No big banners or frills here, they let the doughnies do the work
