Portland, ME skatepark

On our way out of Portland, we had some beers and headed to the skatepark to check it out. Apparently this is a newer park, and it was pretty rad. The park had a decent bowl, hips, euro gap, faux-brick bank, and some unique stuff so it was pretty rad! None of the locals seemed to want to talk to me, so that's my only negative on this one.

Pretty good scenery to roll up to
"Portland Skatepark"
Mini bowl which was actually useful to pump into and out of for some speed for a few things

Fun-size quarter pipe that was good for speed. I kinda liked that it didn't have a deck cuz no one could linger on it then.
One of the local shredders
Another view. For some reason, this kid actually had those Adidas Boost shoes
Pretty fun bowl. The deep end wasn't too tall, but went almost to vert so it was pretty fun and fast

Congdon's Doughnuts

On my drive up from Kev's to Portland, Maine, I drove along the coast a bit and happened to come across this awesome, old-style doughnut spot. Congdon's Doughnuts, Family Restaurant and Bakery!
It was packed!
Since '55!
Good ol' fashioned style. No modern Ikea shit in sight!

And some huge options!

Here's one shelf of options
And the next

And the third! so many options. I panicked when she called on me

And went with apple-filled

Phew, wonderful choice. This is place was great!

Oh yea, I was driving a Fiat!

If you happen to be in Maine, first off, you're hyped, cuz you're in Maine, and second, if you can swing by Congdon's, you will not be disappointed!

Skatepark 8: Dover

A few months ago, I saw a photo of this amazing new ramp in Dover. I knew I had to take Matt there during this visit.

Turns out, the older section of the park was way more fun than the ramp. This park was filled with DIY stuff. There is a rock wall ride, 2 concrete nipples, quarter pipes, flat bars & manual pads. The ground was pretty rough and grippy. It was perfect.

Matt Z approved.

Heres a video from the weekend.

Thanks for coming out!

Kevin

Skatepark 7: Somerville

Matt Z!!!

Last week, Matt came out to visit Boston and Maine. The first spot Matt and I hit during his trip was the Somerville skate plaza.... its not really much of a plaza, it's more like a basketball court with a flat bar and ledges. Good enough.

The ledges in this park are perfect. If you haven't been to Boston, be aware of crazy amounts of wax on the ledges.

Oh yeah, there is a sweet rock climbing wall.

After this park, I decided to show Matt some more well-known local spots.

Betz and Neal would love this place. It's the best ledge spot ever.

Cheers,

Kevin
